By road
The fastest drive is the Agra to Lucknow Expressway to Agra, then NH19 north to Mathura, or joining the Yamuna Expressway near Agra.
By train
There are trains between Lucknow and Mathura Junction, but fewer than to Agra or Delhi; a train to Agra and a short onward journey is often easier.
Check current trains and fares on IRCTC or NTES before booking; schedules change.
By air
Road and rail are usually more practical than flying from Lucknow.
Mathura to Vrindavan
Whichever way you come, the last stretch is the same. Mathura Junction to Vrindavan is about 15 km, usually 30 to 45 minutes by auto, e-rickshaw or taxi depending on traffic. Agree the fare before you sit. Inside Vrindavan the lanes are narrow and jam easily, so walk or take an e-rickshaw rather than drive to the door.
Before you go
Overnight trains are a sensible option; you arrive rested and the day is yours.
